SEA-Images (Synergy Europe-Asia in the field of cinema) was initiated during the 1st Asia-Europe Film Development Plan Meeting held in Manila on 12-14 August 2002. At this meeting, initiated by Cinemanila International Film Festival, all participants expressed the need to share information on film industry via a common website with special focus on independent cinema. SEA-Images website, implemented as a sub-site of ASEF, aims to achieve the following three objectives:

Till now there is no common website for information on Asian film industry: even though Asian cinema is presently more recognised in Europe, information on the film industry -and particularly on its independent sector- is more difficult to find. The SEA-Images website is expected to be highly instrumental in identifying and classifying the information searched and found on the Asian film industry;

The European film industry, being more developed, creates on the contrary an impression of "over information". The SEA Images website's objective is to classify the abundance of information for a better sharing and understanding among film professionals;

In a longer term perspective, ASEF would like the SEA-Images website  to have  a special focus on young filmmakers from both Asia and Europe and to help young talents to be found and better recognised in both regions. Ultimately, the website  is aiming to cover the development of the new media and its application in the film production process.
